Carl Wilson Charity Walks and More

U.S. CWWAC III, OCTOBER 7-8, 2000

Carl Wilson Walk Against Cancer, Oct. 7-8, 2000, Malibu, CA Carl Wilson Foundation home page BBFC site Carl Wilson Foundation Walk page CalSaga site

CWWAC photo essays:

The third annual Carl Wilson Walk Against Cancer took place on Oct. 8, 2000. The day's activities began with a hike up a Malibu mountainside, followed by a picnic, an incredibly successful auction led by Jeff Foskett and Ricci Martin, and a concert featuring Brian Wilson and his band, Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar, Carnie and Wendy Wilson, Robert Lamm, Christopher Cross, The Honeys, Ricci Martin, Michael Angeloff, music director and concert coordinator Billy Hinsche, Jeffrey Foskett, Bobby Figueroa, Tom Jacob, Craig Copeland, and Randell Kirsch. Carl's sons Jonah and Justyn Wilson hosted the event and many members of the extended Wilson family were present, including Carl B. Wilson (In Bloom), Mike Wilson, Barbara Wilson, Annie Wilson-Karges, Murphy Karges (Sugar Ray), Karen Lamm, Melinda Love and her family, Melinda Wilson and family, and very special guest Gina Wilson (attending her first Walk). Other guests included Mario Tucker (In Bloom), author Jon Stebbins (Dennis Wilson: The Real Beach Boy), Dennis' friend Ed Roach, and Tony Asher.

Michael Angeloff, Billy Hinsche, Jeff Foskett and John Zambetti (Malibooz) led the singalong at the Beach Party A Go Go on Oct. 7, 2000 at Paradise Cove in Malibu, CA.

Beach Boys Mike Love and Alan Jardine did not attend, but both graciously sponsored walkers. All donations go to The Carl Wilson Foundation, to benefit cancer research and cancer patients (especially musicians living with and impoverished by the disease). Funds raised from this year's Walk will go to support the Lester Petrillo Fund, a charitable trust fund that provides aid to musicians battling cancer who need assistance in meeting their medical or financial needs. For more Walk information, please contact Betty Collignon by email. (updated 10/27/00)

    About BBFC

The club was started by Alice, the president, in 1973, when she wrote to rock magazines expressing an interest in seeing more articles about the Beach Boys. After one of her letters was printed, several people contacted her about forming a club. Ads in Rolling Stone generated more membership; the first newsletter was published in 1976. The Beach Boys' promotional people took an interest, resulting in BBFC's becoming the official Beach Boys fan organization.

Basic membership is $5.00 a year ($8.00 in U.S. funds for overseas members). This includes five news sheets a year, with news and other information, tour dates, editorials, and an extensive classified section; membership card; and contact person for between-newsletter news.

    How to Join BBFC

    1. Send a legal-size SASE to the Beach Boys Fan Club, Mail Stop 504, 252 Convention Center Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
    2. Or send our application form and $5 ($8 overseas) in check or money order to the address above.
