Brian Wilson has signed a two-album deal with Walt Disney Records' Pearl label. The first album will be covers of tunes crafted by the early-20th century music legends George and Ira Gershwin. Brian has also been granted permission by the Gershwin estate to complete two of George Gershwin's unfinished compositions, in a unique collaboration. The Surf City AllStars have released their latest CD called Acoustic Vibrations, which features their own acoustic versions of Beach Boys tunes, with some special guest vocalists. Alan and Matt Jardine are featured singing lead and background on many of the tracks. David Marks and Dean Torrence sing lead as well on a couple of tracks. A new 60-minute documentary film on the life of Dennis Wilson has been created for the BBC4 Legends series and will premiere in the UK this summer. The documentary features previously unseen footage and rare archival materials. New interview segments with David Marks, Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin, Michael Wilson, Carl B. Wilson, Gregg Jakobson, Ed Roach, John Hanlon, Jeffrey Foskett, Tom Murphy, Ron Swallow, Jo Ann Marks, Taylor Hawkins, Mike Kowalski, Jon Stebbins (also a co-producer), and others give the film a fresh perspective on Dennis' life and legacy. A new 20-track Beach Boys compilation, Summer Love Songs, is set for a May 19 US (May 18 international) release from Capitol/EMI in CD and digital download formats. SLS will include Dennis Wilson's rare track “Fallin' in Love” (aka “Lady”), a song that has been released only on imports previously. There will also be some new stereo mixes of classic BB songs. Alan Jardine's website features sample clips from his upcoming solo album, A Postcard from California, which features guest appearances by Brian Wilson, David Marks, Glen Campbell, Neil Young, Flea, Steve Miller, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America and more. Capitol/EMI released a companion DVD for Brian Wilson's That Lucky Old Sun. The DVD features a full-length live performance of the album, documentary, and behind-the-scenes footage from the album's recording sessions, and some of Brian's recently filmed promotional performances and interviews (Yahoo! Capitol/EMI will reiussue The Beach Boys' Sunflower and Surf's Up albums on vinyl, as part of their “From the Capitol Vaults” series on June 16th. Pet Sounds has also been reissued on 24k gold plate CD in a remix sourced from the original analog mix, on Audio Fidelity. (3/11/09)

The new Grammy Museum in Los Angeles debuted its “An Evening With” signature public program with Brian Wilson on January 15, 2009. Brian was interviewed and played a few songs. (1/16/09)
Brian Wilson was awarded USC's Thornton Legacy Award for songwriting excellence in Dec. 2008. Motown great Lamont Dozier presented the award to Brian. USC also granted the newly created Brian Wilson Scholarship Award to two students. (12/8/08)
NPR has posted Brian Wilson's complete live performance of That Lucky Old Sun (audio), recorded during his appearance at The Warner Theatre in Washington, DC, on Nov. 18, 2008. Dennis Wilson's long out-of-print solo album was reissued June 17, 2008 on Caribou/Legacy. The two-disc set, titled Pacific Ocean Blue: Legacy Edition, contains a remastered version of his acclaimed 1977 solo album Pacific Ocean Blue, as well as his previously unreleased Bambu album, considered a lost classic by rock historians. Overall, this set includes 20 previously unreleased tracks from Dennis. More. (updated 6/23/08)

Following the success of his Dennis Wilson Forever documentary, Billy Hinsche is now working on a followup film, a tribute to Carl Wilson. Billy is in the process of interviewing people who know Carl best and hopes to incorporate previously unseen film and photo elements into the documentary, as well as previously unheard audio. About BBFC
The club was started by Alice, the president, in 1973, when she wrote to rock magazines expressing an interest in seeing more articles about the Beach Boys. After one of her letters was printed, several people contacted her about forming a club. Ads in Rolling Stone generated more membership; the first newsletter was published in 1976. The Beach Boys' promotional people took an interest, resulting in BBFC's becoming the official Beach Boys fan organization.
You can receive our latest newsletter by joining the club. Basic membership is $5.00 ($8.00 in U.S. funds for overseas members). This includes five issues of our newsletter (published irregularly), with news and other information, tour dates, editorials, and a classified section, as well as email bulletins for between-newsletter news.
