blue square dot He's A Doll: Now you can get your very own Brian Wilson action figure, a 12-inch tall collectors' model, based on Brian circa 1966, dressed in a finely-detailed black pea coat and plaid pants like Brian wears on the cover of Pet Sounds. Designed by Mark London (and an unnamed sculptor), the doll comes in two limited edition packages — signed by Brian for$150 US and unsigned for $75 US. For more details, go to Brian's website. blue square dot Special 40th anniversary repackages of the Beach Boys' “Good Vibrations” and Pet Sounds are being released. The CD single of “Good Vibrations,” features five versions of the recording in progress, plus the original U.S. B-side. The Pet Sounds deluxe edition includes a CD/DVD package with various mixes of the album, plus previously unreleased promo and documentary footage. There will also be a limited edition color vinyl release, with mono and stereo mixes. Brian Wilson's website is offering a weekly series of podcasts on Pet Sounds, with commentary from the surviving Beach Boys on each track. The free podcasts may also be heard on iTunes, which is also offering digital downloads of 1998's Pet Sounds Box Set for sale. (updated 8/24/06)

blue square dot A new Beach Boys CD, Songs From Here and Back, is out. The album consists of previously unreleased tracks, with both vintage live concert recordings and new studio solo offerings. blue square dot Sir Peter Blake has been commissioned to create illustrations for a limited edition reissue of The Beach Boys' classic album Pet Sounds. Blake previously crafted the cover art for Brian Wilson's solo CD, Gettin' in Over My Head, and is best known for his work on the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album. (updated 4/26/06)

In the late '60s, Brian Wilson's younger brothers came to the fore with a string of distinctive, intiguing songs that were featured on a series of Beach Boys and later solo albums in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Not appreciated in their time, this emotional and idiosyncratic music has been extremely influential on post-modern pop.
blankspacerAdam Marsland's Chaos Band (featuring Evie Sands) are taking their “Songs of Dennis and Carl Wilson Tour 2006” on the road! Alan Boyd will be joining them on keyboards and background vocals. The set list includes a hour of songs written by Dennis and Carl Wilson, plus original music from the band. blue square dot You can now order the new CD by Adam Marsland's Chaos Band (featuring Evie Sands and special guest Alan Boyd). Long Promised Road is a live recording of the Chaos Band's tribute to Carl and Dennis Wilson tour, taken from their L.A. show last spring. The CD contains 20 tracks, 14 of which are Carl and/or Dennis originals, including covers of the unreleased Wilson songs “Carry Me Home” and “Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again.” The basic price for the album is $15 US.
